Intercession

There was only two men is scripture that God called His friends by name. Abraham and Moses. They were not the loudest, nor did they even do the most exploits. What set them apart was intercession. Moses stood in the gap for a nation that had just turned to a golden calf and worshiped it after fasting and praying on a mountain for them . Asking God to blot himself out of the book instead of them! Friendship with God, in both cases, looked like standing between Him and a people who needed mercy.
