Taste and See

You know that moment when you catch a whiff of really good chocolate before you even see where it's coming from? Your mouth starts watering like it can just taste it in the air. That is Taste and See. You can smell melted cocoa as if it's been warming in the sun. Then behind that a thick sweetness with a distinct buttery fragrance of slow cooked toasted toffee. There is a slight hint of crispness of a bright orchard fruit as well.

The first sip is unexpectedly bold. Greeting you with pure velvety cocoa. Without the bitterness. That flavor quickly dissolves into a wave of warm caramel that tastes exactly like the golden crust of a perfectly baked flan. A crunch of buttery toffee breaks through followed by the gentle splash of mild fruit. Almost like the squeeze of a fresh plum. Lifting the entire experience so the sweetness never feels heavy. The linger of toasted sugar and chocolate lures you into the next sip before even setting the cup down. 

That's exactly the kind of goodness David was pointing to. Not something you have to go dig up or prove to yourself is real. Just there. Immediate, the way the scent tells you what's coming. Tasting and seeing His goodness works the same way. When we slow down enough to actually notice it; instead of rushing past it to something else. We can savor and taste His lovingkindnessess and tender mercies. May He open our eyes and our senses to His goodness. So we can adequately thank Him for all He has done and provided.
