French Roast

French Roast is the absolute boldest edge of the dark roast spectrum. While most dark roasts aim to balance rich cocoa notes with the bean's origin and flavors, French roast pushes past the second "crack" of the roasting process and bakes out the origin flavors, replacing them with a dark glossy coating of natural oils. Intense caramelized sweetness and heavy charcoal notes. 

The smoothness comes from the intense heat. The extended roasting process completely breaks down the organic acids in the bean. Leaving a thick heavy mouthfeel and an intense bittersweet smoke flavor rather than earthy or fruity tones. Containing virtually no acid, it is bold and dark and smoky. 

The intense bittersweet chocolate charred notes make it perfect for added milk ,espressos and moka pots. The flavor of the coffee comes through with that deep classic coffee flavor known and loved by cafes and coffee shops around the world.

The scent when inhaled will smell like a gentle campfire with dark burnt caramel through it. There are faint hints of clove and roasted walnuts at the end of it. The first sip is a bold and heavy wave and tastes like 85% chocolate with toasted walnuts. The bitterness is sharp at first but then turns into a sweet lingering taste of molasses that lingers awhile.
